Michael asks…

what pet is the best?

I want a pet really badly but my grandma gives me the old excuse : they make your clothes smell weird. is there any type of pet that is easy to take care of? maybe a rabbit? idk.. any suggestions?

Rabbits are really good as long as you keep their cage clean they usually don’t smell bad at all, I have had experiences with a hamster and even though hi cage was perfectly clean and all he smelled really bad and stunk up my room I was olny watching him for like a week too. Rodents are not very good pets in my opinion, rabbits are not rodents they are lagomorphs, and then are very loving and sweet they come in all sizes from 2lbs. To 20lbs. And in all colors from black to chestnut to otter to red rabbits are great animals but I would nut suggest getting one from a pet store I get my rabbits from a breeder because I show my rabbits so if you wanted to show or breed you rabbit I would get it from a breeder if you just want a pet I would adopt on, the reasone why you should not buy from a pet store is you don’t know where the animal is coming from, you don’t know what the animal’s parents look like and pet store animals are way over priced. Also rabbit don’t need much attention like a dog if you don’t have that much time all you need to do is feed/water them there is no need to take them on walks they are also quiet and will not scratch/chew up furniture like a cat/dog. Good Luck

James asks…

This girl put her rabbit in a big and threw it into a pool from her window and I saved it, HELP!?

There is this girl I hate so much named Jane.

me and her are 14 years old. SHe had a big party and at the party her rabbit was there and it is little and really bright white and it is so cute!

But she treats it like crap. She took a pencil and kept hitting it really hard with the eraser side and later she took a needle and put it in the rabbits leg! WTF!

The rabbit was super cute and she said her parents gave it to her 2 weeks ago from the pet store and she hates it!

Later she went outside and everyone was in the pool. She made everyone get out of the pool.

She took a walmart plastic bag and forced the rabbit in it.

The bag was shaking like crazy and Jane went upstairs to her bedroom with it. I was still outside by the pool.

SHe opened her window and said shes gonna throw the rabbit into the pool and everyone was so excited and they kept telling her to do it do it do it! Also Janes friend was videotaping this.

As soon as she threw it, it was so scary and the bag hit the water and went down FAST!

I quickly threw off my heels and took off my tanktop and slipped out of my skirt and dived into the water and grabbed the bag and I pulled it up and I held it above the surface.

I was so scared, there was no way I was gonna let Jane kill a rabbit, and eveyrone was behind me asking if its ok.

THe bag wasnt moving, the knot she tied was too tight, I ripped the bag open adn the rabbit was fine!

I put my clothes on and I yelled at Jane and I told her I am going to get her arrested for this.

She said she is eating rabbit tonight and I slapped her and grabbed the rabbit and its pretty small so I put it in my purse and went home! (its head was sticking out so it could breathe!

I googled what to feed the rabbit and I cut up some food and I put it in my bedroom and I let the rabbit stay there.

LMAO it is behind me right now and it is sitting on the bed and it is just staring at the TV.

I checked everyone, no cuts or injuries.

What should I do?

I dont want the rabbit to be hurt anymore I would even adopt it if that meant it would be safe!

Almost sounds like your cat question. You don’t have any thing else better to do with your spare time?

Ruth asks…

Rabbit seems aggressive?

Hey all,
I have wanted a rabbit for a really long time. I bought a 4 month old (around that, not sure of the exact age) female holland lop. I bought her from a girl who could no longer look after her, I only wanted to buy one that really needed a home but was still friendly.

Well the first day or two it was great, she even would lick my face when I layed beside her.
I got her with two weeks of heavy school work left before the end of the year. A lot of the time my fiance would have to let her out and play while I was stuck late hours at school.
Now she has bitten me a couple times and I’m just timid with her, I’m afraid when she comes up and leans on my leg that she’s going to bite me.

She’s really taken to this old bear we had in the room she plays in and bites it violently and scratches at it.
I’ve spoken to a breeder and she said it sounds like her hormones are kicking in and she sees me as a threat because I’m female. She pulls at my clothes and only stops when I pet her, which I’m doing as we speak.
I don’t know what to do, having her spayed costs $200 – $300 here, is there other things to do?
What makes rabbits happy? what toys are there? Food? Where can I get a bigger cage?

I just want this to go better, I want her to like me and me not be afraid of her

Thank you
Greatly appreciated
JC
Thank you for the info. so far, it’s just odd she loves to be pet but as soon as I stop she nibbles at my shirt and hides behind my back, I’m afraid she’s going to bite me or put holes in my shirt! I’m looking at that site, I guess we’ll have to really look into spaying.

Sdfsdf – What is the matter with you, you either sound like a teen brat with nothing better to do or a messed up old jerk. Go away

admin answers:

Getting her spayed would be the best solution. While it may take a few weeks for the hormones to come down, it will last for the rest of her life. $200-300 is not an unusual price for a spay. You could see if your local humane society has a low cost spay/neuter program. As the hormones are the main cause of her issued right now, spaying it really the only thing that will help.

Giving her toys and maybe a larger cage could help, but it won’t get to the root of the problem.

admin answers:

She looks comfortable enough. I used to use hay, newspaper and wood shavings and then the doe lined that with fur. Just supply her with bedding and she will make the nest herself. Once she starts making the nest, leave her alone and don’t touch the nest yourself.

The babies always did well and the does knew what they were doing. I only disturbed the nest once about a week after they gave birth to check health and numbers, after that I left them all well alone until they left the nest themselves.

Susan asks…

is it weird to want a rabbit for my 15th birthday?

Im tuning 15 the day after tommorow, and i asked for a pet rabbit, and i am getting one next week. But is it weird for a 15 year old girl to want a rabbit for her birthday, instead of clothes, money, make up, phone etc.
im worried my friends are going to tease me, cos they are the type of friends that like teasing each other. should i be worried or should i just tell them?

i know this is a stupid question but it keeps bugging me so i just wanted to ask. :)

admin answers:

I don’t see how it would be weird.
Many people ask for different things for their birthday, and you just want a rabbit. Nothing wrong with that
As long as you look after it and take care of it, then it’s fine.
I’ve had plenty of friends get pets for their birthdays, it’s a very common thing.
