Weiner Dog Clothes ?
I just got a little weiner dog ( dachshund ) and his name is Copper because of his reddish color. And since where i live it gets cold he likes to wear little clothes. Ive gone to petsmart Petco and i cant find anything cute for him. Im not oh so talented with a sewing machine either lol. SO does anyone know a pet place to get clothes? ( not online) thanks !

You can just go to a pet supply store (not a name-brand one like PetSmart or PetCo) and look for clothes there. Most of the people who own places like that have catalogs that you can look at. They will take an order for you and get the clothes for you.
I know that you don’t want an online clothing retailer, but just try petedge.com. It is very cheap and they have the biggest variety of dog clothing that I have ever seen.

Is this okay about pet fashion ?
I now that people dress there dogs in clothes yada, yada, but what I noticed is that it is inly toy breed dog owners who dress there pups. Well I have a yellow lab puppy who is 18 weeks old, how can I be able to get her used to being dressed and when she is an adult are there sizes big enough for a Yellow Lab/ pitbull mix? Oh and what size would a yellow lab puppy where? Sorry for all the questions.

You can dress her, and they do make t-shirts etc for larger breeds – just look on ebay. Most online sites give measurements as to size guide – normally neck circumference, torso circumference and length from neck to base of tail, so find yourself a tape measure, and bear in mind that your pup is growing fast….
I wouldn’t start out by trying to get her into anything too complicated – if she gets used to a standard dog coat that would be good practise.
Having said all this – I don’t think anything beats the beauty of a healthy dog’s own fur.. But each to their own, and if your dog doesn’t grumble at you, what right do we have to do so?!

pets wearing clothes? need help ?
ok so i know its a little odd to want to dress my gsd but if anyone read my last question you’ll know why. so any ways the question is i cant fand any dog clothes to fit the gigantic fella…lol… would it be ok to but a man sweater on him or is the arm placement painful for a dog? thanks again all you yahoo answers ppl with excellent advice!
admin answers:
Many stores sells clothes for small dogs or puppies and yes generally people don’t feel that large dogs need wearing clothes. That’s why so hard to find suitable clothes for GSD. I think you’d better make your dog clothes yourself because they may fit better and more comfortable. You can google some cute styles and download the pics and then buy the fabric yourself to try to make it. It may take you some time, but you’ll find it interesting and funny. Here I found some nice styles for your reference: http://www.joypetsproducts.com/picture/DogClothes/
Good luck

Looking for a career with dogs?
Hey I’m a kid that wants to eventually work with dogs. I’m aiming for the rich people kinda thing where you design clothes, sell pet food, have pet spas, that kind of thing. How would start on something like that? I thought about volunteering at shelters, working at a petstore, but I’m only 12 years old, so I can’t really drive to work or anything. If you do this kinda thing please tell me how you got started, where to go, and if it is worth it, not any fun, and so fourth. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!

I started bathing dogs for a hobby breeder who lived close to me over 40 years ago. I also, at my father’s insistence, started training my own dog. I eventually went to a dog grooming school, & then I apprenticed with groomers who were showing dogs.
Competition in the pet industry (& that’s what it is—an industry) is fierce. However, money isn’t in gadgets or dog clothes, but providing service: boarding & training mostly, or being a professional dog handler. Look into apprenticing somewhere, & gain as much hands on experience as you can, & read books on dog care—not just general books, but on the specifics of the breeds, & training & grooming.
